Harley Quinn inspired shorts

Harley Quinn is one of my favorite characters in Batman and I have been thinking since a long time that I wanted to do some inspired clothes of her outfit.
At first I thought of a dress, like this one of ThinkGeek, but I thought it was too difficult, and I am not that experienced with my new sewing machine.

Then I thought of some leggings, like the ones of Blackmilkclothing, page which I already mentioned in my blog before. I thought too it was too complicated, cause I like leggings to be licra and it is difficult to print designs on it or to paint it.

I checked out some inspired outfits and everything and in the end I decided to do some inspired shorts, using this shorts as an inspiration and some old Tshirts.

I cut out the fabric and then I sew it around the edges of the short, but you can use fabric glue too.
Here is the result, an awesome pair of inspired Harley Quinn shorts.

Assasins Creed 4 Parkour

Probably you have seen before the video of the real life Assasin's Creed parkour video. If not here you go:

There has also been another video after the relase of Assasin's Creed 3, from the same people. Devinsupertramp as director and Ronnie Shalvis perfoming the parkour:

However, due to the proximity of the release of the fourth Assasin's Creed, which is based on caribic pirates, they did another video too, this time with Chris Romwell doing the free stunts.

This last one is by far my favorite. I do not know if it is for the new clothes, the epic music, the fact that I love pirates or that I am just really really excited to see the new Assasin's Creed. Just can't wait and I keep watching this video which I like even more that the oficial trailer of the game, I even got goosegumps. Anyway you should check the videogame trailer too, here you have all of them my favourite is the Assasin's Creed 2 and the Revelations trailer.

If you want to check out the creator of this videos, you can check out his youtube channel here. He has some pretty awesome extreme stuff.

Luigi Cake

It was my birthday not so long ago, and to celebrate it. One of my closest friends and me did this awesome fondant Cake with Luigi's face. I have always been a Nintendo fan, and I love Mario with all my heart, but my favorite character has always been Luigi, so we decided to do his face. And it was so much better than expected for my first fondant cake.

Sadly there are no photos of the inside of the cake, which was green and with a red fruit jam. Mmmm, so geeky and so jummy. Next time I will sure do some more pictures.

Kerbal Space Program

Many of you probably have not heard of Kerbal Space Program, I honestly did not know either, but a really good friend of mine is now addicted to this game, and he goes on and on about this game all the time, so I wanted to try it.

I downloaded the demo in Steam, and started to play it as soon as I could. The idea of the game is to send rockets and go out in missions to outerspace. Or at least that is what I think, cause I must say I was not able to play that much. At least in the demo, the game does not offer any kind of tutorial, and I was so confused, I really did not know what we were supposed to do. I just spent like 30 minutes clicking on types of rocket parts, with no idea what to do.

I just felt like Penny from "The Big Bang Theory", I just think I am too stupid for this game. I mean, I trust my friend and I am sure it is a lot of fun, but I just did not find it. They should do a tutorial or a version for people like me, cause I even looked on the Internet to see what we had to do and still nothing.

Feel free to check it out, you can see an awesome fan-made trailer here:

I wanted to show you too, the present I gave my friend for his birthday, I made a super cute Kerbal astronaut out of Hama beads. It looks so cute. Here you can see a picture he took of his little Kerbal friend in his orion ceiling. I found the pattern here.

Mario polymer earrings

Probably you have seen this image of piranha plant earrings by 9gag or other website:

If you are wondering where to get these beauties, the original etsy shop was Ligglizz Shop, where you can find the earrings for $35 + shipping costs. In this shop you can find more geeky polymer clay. For example:

However you can find more geeky jewelry made of polymer clay in Etsy. Could bee yours for example, where you can find a piranha and chain chomp earrings combo. Here it costs $34 + shipping. In this shop you can find  more Star wars and other geek inspired earrings.

If you do not want to spent that money on the earrings or you just prefer to make things your own (like I do) you could try to do them yourself. For that youtuber and geek crafter NerdECrafter has created some tutorials for both the piranha and the chompers.

Probably this will be one of my next crafts, and definitely will post pics here.

Breaking Bad Cover

The youtuber and musician Andrew Huang is, for years now, accepting challenges of youtubers that comment on his videos. One of them had the great idea to suggest him to do the cover of Breaking Bad with things you will find on a meth lab. And this is the result:

He never disappoints, he should keep doing this videos, this is by far my favorite, but he has some pretty awesome ones.
Check out too this one "made of water":

Geek Furniture: Totoro Bed

As a geek, you have probably heard before of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki, known as the creators of master pieces such as Princess Monoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro. In China Doll's House in ebay you can buy this awesome Totoro Fouton, that can be used as sleeping bag too. You can purchase both the single and double bed. The tail is detachable and you can use it as a pillow. It costs around 280$ including shipping costs. But you can find it cheaper if you look at ebay and find some bidding's offer.

In the same shop you can find Doraemon and Hello Kitty beds too, but I still think Totoro is the cutest specially cause he is from Studio Ghibli.

Geek Furniture: Donkey Kong Shelves

Some weeks before I posted about the Space Invader Sofa, well looking at more of Igor Chak's designs I saw this awesome Donkey Kong shelves.

You probably recognize the screenshot and the shelves. But for those who don't here is a more bigger picture of the original inspiration:

As you can see it is pretty accurate with the design, it even has the angles of the shelves in pixels, which I think it is so cool.

The designer, referring to these shelves, says in his official blog:

"The wall is made out of individual sections; each section is made out of durable but light carbon fiber, anodized aluminum pixels that are joined with strong stainless steel rods and toughened glass tops. The special mounts themselves are made out of steel and can support up to 60lbs"

The thing is, that this shelves are not really for sale is just a design, so we are left only with the dream to have these unique piece of furniture at home. However, creative geeks are all over the globe, and they brought us these awesome and real shelves:

Via Twitter (user @laurajsharples)
If you are looking for an easy thing you just can decorate your shelves with duct tape or paint it, get hold on some ladders and barrels, a mario or donkey plush and you got yourself a new geeky furniture.
For a more real look, via alcoholandnightswimming you can find how he did this awesome 20 degrees shelves:

Geek cakes taste better: Wreck-it Ralph

In When Geeks Wed blog, which I commented on before, you see some awesome cakes, and not only wedding cakes. She actually does some herself and posts the ingredients on her blog. Here you can see the directions and what you will need to do this awesome cake from Wreck-it Ralph:
Via When Geeks Wed
Inspired on the character of Vanellope von Schweetz and her dark and sprinkeld with sugar hair, she came up with this awesome chocolate cake. It looks so easy and yummy; I'll do it some time soon.

In Deliciously Darling blog saw this birthday party too, inspired in Wreck-It Ralph and I think it is just adorable. I love the cupcakes and the cake. I am really inspired by it.

Geek Jerseys

As I said before in some other of my posts, every day is easier for geeks to find clothes according to their hobbies and most loved theme shows, videogames, etc. The last awesome geeky-clothes website that I discovered was Geeky Jerseys. And as the name says it sells Jerseys, but instead of having your  team on it it has your favorite geek character. You can buy this awesome jerseys for 95$, sometimes you have to wait till a particular Jersey has a minimum of orders, but I think it is worth the pain. Here you can see some of my favorites:

Videogame review: Braid

Normally I only play point and click adventures and although I have played hours of Mario, I am not that keen on platform adventures, but I got totally hooked up on Braid. Created by Jonathan Blow was first made for platform X-box Live and was after made compatible for Windows, Mac and Linux.
The gameplay is in a way similar to Mario, our main character (Tim) goes through different worlds to try and find his princess, but keeps discovering that his princess is in another castle.
The difference to Mario is that you have to get pieces of puzzles to keep on moving on your game and that you cannot die. That is right, you cannot die. One of the special features of this game is that you control time; every time you die you can reverse time and bring yourself back to life. In each world you can control time in a different way and you have to be ingenious enough to solve of the puzzles. They are not difficult, you just have to think a bit, and you get really proud of yourself when you finally figure out how to get the pieces of the puzzle.
The story is not a straight forward as Mario either, even though it is a platform game it has a really complex story to it. It tries to explore the complexity of the human mind. At first you are told that the main character is going after her princess to rescue her, but as you keep playing the story starts to get more and more ambiguous.
Not only the gameplay is amazing and the story catchy, but the original art design (that reminds a little bit of Van Gogh) and the beautiful soundtrack, make this videogame a little masterpiece.
You can buy it in Steam for 8,99€ and you won't regret it.
Here you can see the trailer:

I wanted to recommend too, a contemporany dance version of the game. Using the original soundtrack of Braid, The Chaparral High School Alumni Theatre's did this awesome dance of the story which can be watched both normal and in reverse. I found it really good, cause it sticks to the moral of the story of Braid: that everything depends in how you look at it.

Here you can see the first part of the normal version, but I recommend watching both the normal and the reversed, I thought it was genius:

Design #8

Tetris is not only because it is a one of the most world-wide known game but probably one of the games I spent most hours in. So I had to have a design in my backpack. Honestly it is probably one of my least favourite designs, cause i did not really have the right colours, and the box should be on the other side. But people still recognize it, so I guess it is o.k.

Actually I got the idea from the original Uanyi backpacks, which I must say, it looks much better than mine. Though I actually prefer my touch of the squares at the side cause it looks more like the real Tetris.

And if you feel now that you wanna play Tetris, here is a link for you.
Have fun!

The Superheroes Hangover

Suricate by Golden Moustache Video is a French Youtube-channel that does some awesome videos.
The most famous ones are: Movies vs Real Life

The title is self explanatory, in the video you can see some typical scenes in movies and how they would be in real life. Well made and hilarious, is one of the things a geek must see. But their best work, is without a doubt: The Superheroes Hangover. Using the Hangover movie, they make this version with characters of Marvel and DC, which is just genius. Not only because the special effects and everything is well done, but the the characters are quite believable and it makes you laugh even if you are not a geek. I just wish they could make this a whole movie.

Design #7

One of the best series opening theme (corroborated by Sheldon Copper on The Big Bang Theory) is from the 80's tv-series TMNT:

It is my phone ringtone, so one of my designs had to be dedicated to my green friends. I kind of did a minimal design cause I did not have many pixels and Donatello is dark blue instead of being purple, but well I think they are pretty recognizable. I still love them.

Some people at work though said they look like fishes, and maybe I see the similarity now too. I still think they are adorable, I mean what can I say they are my babies.

More geek furniture: Rubik's drawers

Carrying on with my future dream house, I saw my future drawers for my bedroom. The Rubik's drawers. Made by a loving father for their kids, this awesome piece of furniture was created.

It does not only look as a Rubik but it turns, you can change the position of the magnets and each drawer unlocks in a different position. The genius of this creation is instructable-user makendo and you can see how to make it here. It said that it costed up to 200$ all together to build it. Which I personally think is worth it, but you would have to think about all the hours spent too. Maybe you could build one that does not turn, I have seen comments of people that have done it and the result is good too.

Behold, the Rubik drawer in action:

Crafty Sunday: X-Men Purse

After my comic heels, I had this demon inside me, that screamed: MORE, MORE. And as I had comic leftovers already cut out I decided to upcycle a purse I had. And this is what I came up with.

You can use the same technique described in the comic heels post. Basically Mod Podge and some comic cutouts, so easy and it look amazing. You should try this at home and make pictures. If you want one of your own without making it, try Etsy or contact me and I can make something for a reasonable price.

Geeky Cakes

I love surfing on the Internet and looking at geek cakes but normally I do not to  have the impulse to say: I need to do this. But it happened when I saw this one.

Via geekcrafts I saw this amazing cake by bakingdom which I have to do, it does not seem that difficult and it is well explained in her blog. Perfect for Harry Potter geeks.

Space Invaders DIY shorts

As a geek woman I don't find that much geek pretty clothes to wear, so I just make a lot of my clothes myself. I upcycle clothes with the touch of geek I need for all my clothes. This summer I did the cutest pair of shorts I have: Space Invaders short.
I saw this tutorial of tribal DIY shorts and decided to make them because they look adorable.

I was not sure what pattern to draw, then I thought of something geeky and thought that the Invaders would look awesome. So I got myself one pair of old jeans, I dipped half of them for some hours in bleach and let them dry. Then I got my black fabric pen and, with a stencil I did before hand with cardboard, drew my Space Invaders.
The result is just fantastic, I hope you try this at home.

Videogame review: Botanicula

My first game played by Amanita Design was Machinarium, which I reviewed already. After this one I played Botanicula and had high expectations from the previous game. I was not let down. Maybe the story is a little bit more different to what we are used to in point and click adventures, but I still recommend it. I am in such a good mood when I play this game cause it is just adorable how every time you help this little plants they all scream yippie! You just have to keep on playing and helping them on their quest. The strong points of this game, as well as with Machinarium, the special art design of the game, the music and of course the gameplay.

You can buy it from botanicula.net with the same principle as the other games of Amanita Design: 10$ and compatible with all operating systems.

If you have a game that you would like to recommend please comment, I always like to hear about new games :). Comment if you like the game too.
